                iReasoning MIB Browser

ZIP installations
-----------------

browser.bat: script for launching MIB Browser on Windows.
browser.sh: script for launching MIB Browser on UNIX.
browser.command: script for launching MIB Browser on macOS.

Open a shell window and run the appropriate script to start MIB Browser. ZIP
installations do not install or configure a system service. Enterprise ZIP
users who need automatic startup must configure their own service.

Linux DEB and RPM installations
-------------------------------

Choose the file for the machine architecture. Debian and Ubuntu use amd64 or
arm64 DEB files. Fedora, RHEL, Rocky Linux, and compatible distributions use
x86_64 or aarch64 RPM files. Package filenames do not contain a product version.
The package metadata contains the complete version and release.

Install Enterprise on Debian or Ubuntu:

  sudo apt install ./ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise-eval_amd64.deb
  sudo apt install ./ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise-eval_arm64.deb
  sudo apt install ./ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise_amd64.deb
  sudo apt install ./ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise_arm64.deb

Install Enterprise on an RPM-based distribution:

  sudo dnf install ./ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise-eval.x86_64.rpm
  sudo dnf install ./ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise-eval.aarch64.rpm
  sudo dnf install ./ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise.x86_64.rpm
  sudo dnf install ./ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise.aarch64.rpm

The Enterprise package enables and starts
ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise.service. Common administration commands are:

  sudo systemctl status ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise.service
  sudo systemctl restart ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise.service
  sudo systemctl stop ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise.service
  sudo journalctl -u ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise.service

Launch the Enterprise Java GUI from the desktop application menu or from a
terminal:

  ireasoning-mibbrowser

The GUI runs as the logged-in user and connects to the Enterprise server. Do
not run the GUI with sudo.

Install Professional on Debian or Ubuntu:

  sudo apt install ./ireasoning-mibbrowser-professional_amd64.deb
  sudo apt install ./ireasoning-mibbrowser-professional_arm64.deb

Install Professional on an RPM-based distribution:

  sudo dnf install ./ireasoning-mibbrowser-professional.x86_64.rpm
  sudo dnf install ./ireasoning-mibbrowser-professional.aarch64.rpm

Professional is a desktop application and does not install a system service.
Start it from the desktop application menu or from a terminal with:

  ireasoning-mibbrowser

Native packages install an application-menu entry rather than writing a link
into each user's Desktop directory. Desktop environments discover the entry
from the standard system application directory.

Linux filesystem locations
--------------------------

Enterprise packaged application and Java runtime:

  /opt/ireasoning/mibbrowser

Enterprise packaged defaults:

  /usr/share/ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise/defaults

Enterprise read-only Java GUI view:

  /usr/lib/ireasoning-mibbrowser-enterprise/gui

Enterprise mutable configuration, database, MIBs, and license state:

  /var/lib/ireasoning-mibbrowser

Enterprise logs:

  /var/log/ireasoning-mibbrowser

Professional per-user configuration, database, MIBs, and license state:

  ~/.imibrowser

Enterprise Java GUI per-user configuration and client state also use:

  ~/.imibrowser

Upgrades and removal
--------------------

Installing a paid Enterprise package upgrades an Enterprise evaluation package.
Upgrades and reinstalls add only missing packaged defaults; they preserve changed
configuration, database contents, added MIBs, and license state. Removing an
Enterprise package removes its packaged application and service unit but leaves
/var/lib/ireasoning-mibbrowser and /var/log/ireasoning-mibbrowser in place.

Existing arbitrary-location ZIP installations are not migrated or removed by a
native package. Stop both old and new Enterprise servers before copying mutable
configuration, database, MIB, or license files into /var/lib/ireasoning-mibbrowser.
